From a plywood sheet, we cut two identical blanks with a length of 47 cm and a width of about 200 mm. We connect them using double-sided tape. We make markings according to the template or by hand, after which we cut out a frame for a hacksaw on a metal band saw.

The wooden frame for the hacksaw in terms of functionality is not much different from the metal. Unless it weighs less and lasts longer. Well, working with a hacksaw is much more pleasant, because it is made with your own hands.

Preparatory work

If there is no band saw at hand, you can use a conventional jigsaw. Then, with a milling cutter, you need to drill a hole in the handle and process the frame on a grinding machine or a manual grinder. Next, disconnect the two halves, remove the tape and use the chisel to make grooves under the canvas on the inside.

Then again we connect the two halves, but already on the glue. You also need to drill a hole for the bolt, which will fix the canvas. On the other side of the frame, a hole is drilled under the tension bolt with nut. A hat is cut off from it, and a longitudinal cut must be made in the hairpin.

The final stage of work

The edges of the frame from plywood inside and out, it is desirable to process on the milling table, and then on the grinding machine. Then we apply one or two layers of mineral oil, install a tension bolt with a metal sheet and pull it, after which we can get to work.
