Simple sandblasting from an old fire extinguisher

If you are tired of cleaning metal with an electric drill or grinder, then why not try an alternative cleaning method - using sand? This method may seem a little "exotic" to someone, but it is quite effective.

To quickly clean the metal of traces of rust, scale or old paint with sand, you will first need to make a simple sandblast. For this, for example, you can use the housing from the old fire extinguisher.

The principle of operation of the sandblasting machine is very simple: under the influence of compressed air that is supplied from the compressor unit, sand from the tank enters the hose, after which it is thrown out through the nozzle at great speed.

The main stages of work

To drown the top of the fire extinguisher, a dummy must be made on the lathe. We put on a rubber band on it, and then screw the plug into the neck of the fire extinguisher. Sand will fall into the hole itself.

At the next stage, we drill two holes: in the bottom of the fire extinguisher body and on the side, closer to the top. We clean these places from paint and weld two small drives. Then we weld the legs from the bottom of the fire extinguisher cylinder.

Legs can be made from pieces of round steel bar. We weld the knob to the plug so that it is easier to unscrew and twist it. Then it remains only to assemble the fitting system, and a simple sandblast from the old fire extinguisher is ready for use.
