From the old open-end wrench (wrench), which you have not been using for a long time, you can make a convenient hinged wrench for socket heads. Working with such a tool is much more practical and easier, especially in hard-to-reach places where it is impossible to use another tool.

It should be noted that the hinged collar made of the old open-end wrench is much more convenient than the classic T-shaped wrenches due to the longer lever. And also this homemade product is more versatile in use, compared with the L-shaped winch.

First of all, it is necessary to make an “adapter” for socket heads made of steel round timber of suitable diameter. This will require a lathe. However, there is an easier option: cut off the square from the old L-shaped collar or remove the finished one on the T-shaped collar.

The main stages of work

Ready "adapter" for the socket heads must be welded to a piece of thick-walled pipe or plumbing coupling. If there is a lathe, then the part of the desired shape and size can be made independently.

At the next stage of work, you need to weld the "adapter" to the open-end wrench. To do this, first insert a piece of steel bar into the “barrel”, and then weld its ends to the lips. Thus, a swivel is obtained.

Now the homemade product is completely ready for work. For details on how to make a hinged collar for socket heads from an open-end wrench, see the video on the website.
