In this review, the author tells in detail how you can make a beautiful decorative apron for your kitchen with imitation wood with your own hands. And for this, ordinary building materials will be used.

Please note that the surface of the wall must first be prepared - leveled with putty and painted with facade water-based paint.

First of all, you need to mark the area of the wall on which the decorative apron will be placed. Then with the help of masking tape we mark the borders.

Preparation for work

To create a decorative apron with imitation wood in the kitchen you will need: a primer, moisture-resistant putty, masking tape, wallpaper glue, as well as a standard set of tools - brushes, rollers, spatulas.

Before starting work, you need to silently upgrade the tool. Namely, with the help of an office knife, cut small cloves of different sizes and arbitrary shapes on plastic spatulas.

Making an apron

We apply moisture-resistant putty in small “batches” on the prepared wall surface. Please note that this putty dries quickly, so do not rush to apply it at once a lot.

Immediately after applying a "portion" of putty to the wall with the help of improvised notched trowels, the author makes vertical wave-like "notches", thus forming an imitation of the texture of the tree.

Then with a flat spatula you need to "draw" something like wood knots (preferably a little pre-workout). Next, a wide spatula will need to slightly smooth the surface.

Wall painting

When the putty is completely dry, it is necessary to sand it with a large emery cloth. After that, the surface of the wall will need to be primed.

The author makes the coloring composition from a primer, a tint of a necessary shade, white water-based emulsion paint and wallpaper glue.

Due to the presence of wallpaper glue, the coloring composition will not leave smudges on the wall, and will also fill all pores well.

At the next stage, we start painting. We apply the prepared coloring compound to the wall (previously the surface will need to be dusted off), and remove the excess with a spatula.

The number of layers of paint can be different, depending on what visual effect you want to achieve. For details on how to make a decorative apron for the kitchen with imitation wood, see this video.
