Tiles for garden paths are not cheap. Especially if you don’t like ordinary gray bricks, but want something original.

However, even without molds for pouring, you can manually make a spectacular tile in the form of wood saw cuts. The author offers the idea of how to cut and color elements, giving them a natural look.

The composition of the mixture:

  • 1 part cement M500
  • 2 parts of sand

Stages of creation

Knead a dense cement mixture, which will be easy to shape with your hands. You will need a metal mesh. Bend its edges and put in the center of the product. So you protect the tiles from splits.

For small "cuts" the grid is not needed. Form round bases of different sizes on oilcloth.

Align the edges and allow the workpieces to dry slightly. Use a knife to shape the bark texture. Do not be afraid to move away from the standard round shape.

Now circle the contour with a knife, stepping back a few centimeters from the edge, and partially cut off the outer part. Brush excess cement mixture.

We turn to the artistic processing. Mark the texture of the annual rings, and then deepen them, making wide enough cuts. Make transverse cracks with the approach to the bark.

When the main lines are worked out, make thinner and more accurate cuts between them. From the edges with the flat side of the knife, select large cracks, creating a bark effect.

When the forms have dried, remove all dust from them with a brush. Make the first coat of paint brown by mixing acrylic paint with a primer.

Apply the second layer of light beige paint with a sponge, making a loose coating. For a bark and natural look, use a medium tone with accents.

Apply the finishing touches with white paint and the tile is ready! For more information on how to make tiles in the form of wood saw cuts without casting forms, see this video.
