In this review, the author will rebuild the anvil, which is made of a piece of a conventional railway rail. The view of the anvil is very shabby, so the task is to ennoble it a little.

For a “cosmetic” restoration, you will need a grinder with cutting and cleaning discs, as well as a welding machine.

First of all, the author is scalding a metal bar in the upper part of the anvil, since the old welds left much to be desired.

We recommend you to read: do-it-yourself portable mini-anvil from a railway rail.

The main stages of work

At the next stage, the author makes marking with a marker and cuts out the horn of the anvil. The fact is that in the previous "version" it simply was not.

Next, you need to smooth out all the bumps and sharp corners, and grind the metal surface.

At the bottom of the rail, the master drills mounting holes, and cuts semicircular grooves on the sides.

At the last stage, it is necessary to glue the upper part of the anvil with masking tape, and paint the lower part. When the paint is completely dry, the masking tape can be removed.

The detailed process of restoring an anvil made from a piece of a rail can be seen in the video on our website.
