Raccoons have long become YouTube stars. They are mobile, dexterous, cunning, inquisitive animals. Many children would like to have such a friend at home, but, alas, this is impossible in most cases. However, why not make a felted wool raccoon made in your own room in your room? This workshop will be devoted to how to make a raccoon from wool.

Will need

First we need to prepare the wool. If we want to dump a realistic toy, then it's worth choosing the right color for it. In nature, in a raccoon, the hair consists of several colors folded together, which, as it were, in general, look like a gray color. If you find one, then this is good, but more often I just mix several colors (beige, brown, black, white). It turns out a completely natural color.

Getting started felting a raccoon from wool

Now grab a No. 40 felting needle and start felting a ball of wool. Tear the wool into pieces, form into a ball and roll on all sides with a needle. For convenience, use a foam sponge for felting. It is also good to lay also non-woven material (insulation under the laminate). When the ball becomes dense, proceed to felting the body.

The shape of the body is oval, narrowed up (neck).

We return to the head. In the area of the face of the toy, attach white wool. Gradually compact this place, forming an elongated muzzle. Start wallowing, moving towards the center.

Next, we impose a black strip on the forehead and nose.

Draw the mouth with a needle.

From a piece of black wool folded by a triangle, we form a raccoon nose. We tighten the nose.

At the bottom of the head, make a recess to enter the neck.

Now put two more strips of black wool in the eye area of the toy.

Separate ears on the sponge and roll them to the head.

Sew your head to your torso. The exit point of the needle is the crown. Tie a knot and cover this place with wool.

Do not forget to fix the junction (head + torso) with pieces of wool so that subsequently the raccoon head does not dangle.

Next, increase the body volume, put more hair in the abdomen and buttocks.

Decorate your tummy with a white cloud of wool. Seal this place.

Pile the upper paws separately on the sponge, drawing the fingers on them. Make bends in the hands of the paws. To do this, bend the foot and walk several times with the needle at the proposed location of the fold. Keep your feet tied to your torso.

Next, you need to make recesses for the eyes. Pass them with a needle and glue the eyes. I use moment glue.

I make eyelids only at the top for such a toy, I roll them separately and put an eye at the top. From below, I frame the eye with a piece of white wool.

Since I want my raccoon to stand on its paws, I make him legs with a steady foot. Fold the wool tightly and roll. Further, in the foot area, you can simply add wool (build up the foot). Just keep in mind that the lower paws and feet should be very tight.

Keep paws on your torso and begin to build up volume on your hips and buttocks. Constantly check the stability of the toy.

The toy is almost ready to dump the tail. As we recall, the raccoon has a beautiful striped tail, and we will also try to depict the same. To do this, pile a tube of wool of the main gray color.

And after that we begin to apply alternately black and white wool to this part. It will turn out such a rod of a traffic police officer.

But when we fluff this ponytail with a return needle and cut it a bit, we get a wonderful raccoon ponytail. Note that the very tip of the gray base of the tail must be left loose in order to attach the tail to the body with it.

Roll the tail to the body. Here's what happened.

Now, to make our toy fluffy, we need to fluff it with a reverse needle. Fluff the entire surface, bypassing the feet, hands, ears, eyelids of the toy. Cut the product.

Apply to a thin brush with grated dry pastels and shade the line of the mouth. This can also be done with a regular colored pencil, slightly dampened (finely honed). Here is such a felted raccoon made of wool with your own hands can decorate the interior of your room or a children's shelf.
