Block Masonry

A homemade device was invented to simplify the laying of cinder blocks. In the absence of experience, it is quite difficult to maintain a seam line of the same thickness. Therefore, we constantly had to remove cinder blocks, toss or level the solution layer. Given the weight of the cinder block, a laborious operation was obtained, and it took a lot of time.

I wanted to come up with a device that facilitates the laying of blocks. The result was a slide made of two pipes with a diameter of 15 mm, fixed by two profiles 40x20 mm. One profile is welded at the ends of the pipes, the second with a slight indentation so that the device is rigidly fixed. The length of the pipes from the free edge to the first profile is approximately 150 mm longer than the length of the cinder block.

Stacking cinder blocks using a tool

The device is stacked with the profiles up.

Spray the solution, align the height of the fixture pipes.

The solution should be of medium density so that the block does not squeeze it out with its weight. Then indent the finger on the cinder block.

To the side we pull out the slide without unnecessary effort.

Using the level of tapping the hammer, level the cinder block (it itself will not lie down exactly). The outside is aligned with the tensioned cord. Perfect precision is not needed because the wall will be faced.

Note: when pulling out the slide, hold the block with your hand.

We lay the next block, trowel level the solution. After that, fill the joints between the blocks with the solution. When laying with the help of such a device, the problem of setting angles is also solved - the blocks do not move horizontally.

This makeshift device does not claim to be called an invention. Such skids helped us when laying a wall of cinder blocks and, perhaps, people who do not have experience in laying blocks can lay out an even layer of mortar in work.
