All owners of manual meat grinders, if they have not already encountered it, are sure to encounter a similar problem when the meat grinder has sharpened or new knives, but it does not chop or cut meat, but instead chews it. Such a defect, you guessed it, is due to the development of parts and details. They are not afraid of him; the whole question is solved in about 15 minutes.

The reason the meat grinder does not cut

Remove the handle and pull the auger shaft.

He moves a few millimeters back and forth. Such a big backlash should not be. We try to tighten the clamping nut more tightly. Most likely this will not work and the backlash will remain.
We disassemble the meat grinder. And here is the reason itself: on the screw there is a plastic or kapron sleeve, which, over time, has been drained. As a result of which this free running of the screw was formed, as a result of which the cutting knives cannot fit snugly against each other and cut qualitatively.

We repair the meat grinder

As I said, the repair is very simple. Remove the sleeve from the screw shaft.

We take the usual capron lid for a glass jar and cut the washer gasket out of it. The inner diameter of which is the diameter of the shaft, and the outer is the diameter of the sleeve skirt.

I personally did not praise the thickness of one gasket, since the output was quite large, so I cut out two such washers.
We put a gasket on the shaft (or two if necessary).

Then put the sleeve back.

It can be seen that the overall thickness has increased.

We collect the meat grinder. Install the auger, knives. And before tightening the nut it is already visible that the mesh knife protrudes markedly. So it should be, now the nut will firmly clamp it.

Tighten the nut. And again we pull the shaft back and forth. There is no backlash.

Dress the handle and fix it with a screw. Try to scroll. The handle should spin a little tightly.

Here is such a very simple way to put your meat grinder back in operation and make it work for many more years.
In the future, of course, it will be necessary to replace the sleeve that has expired, but before that, for a long time.
