If you like to draw, assemble puzzles or embroider a cross, then you, undoubtedly, at least once, have encountered the problem of acquiring a framework for your creation. I don’t want to put on my own masterpiece in standard edging, and non-standard solutions hit the family budget very much. Especially if the size of the masterpiece is quite impressive. But there is always a way out of any difficult situation. You can make a frame with your own hands, just having the rails suitable for the length of your hand.

Materials for work:

  • Wooden flat lath - length of laths = height of creation + its width multiplied by 2;
  • Short self-tapping screw - 28 pcs;
  • Corner - 4 pcs;
  • Toilet paper - 1 roll;
  • Bracket for drywall - 2 pcs;
  • Jigsaw, packing cardboard, glue "liquid nails", gouache "gold", gouache "silver", brushes round and flat, construction PVA glue, acrylic varnish.

Stages of the work:

The first stage: cutting parts.

We select wooden slats of the desired length.

We take measurements of the picture around the perimeter (2 heights and 2 widths). Using a jigsaw, we cut off the excess length of the rails.

It turns out 4 segments.

The second stage: the combination of parts into a single whole.

On the front side of the frame, we make fasteners from scraps of brackets for attaching drywall (I just had no corners on the front and back side). In each corner joint of the rails, we twist 3 self-tapping screws.

It turns out the frame frame fastened on the front side. Here, the different height of the rails does not matter at all.

We turn the frame over and on the back (back side, which will lie on the wall), the height of the rails should be even. We fasten the joints with the corners, screwing 4 screws in each.

The third stage: we form the basis.

We cut even strips of packaging cardboard. The strips should be wider by a couple of centimeters of frame rack.

Apply glue "liquid nails" to the surface of the slats.

On top we put strips of cardboard so that the excess width is inside the frame (side edges should be flat).

We connect the joints of the rails with narrow strips of cardboard (to avoid delamination along the seam). Cardboard is carefully pressed along the entire length.

Fourth stage: decorate the base of the frame.

Apply glue "liquid nails".

Distribute it evenly on the surface.

We lay out toilet paper, forming folds and trying to close it with the entire surface of the cardboard strips. It is not necessary to align the edges of cardboard and paper, it is perfectly cut after complete drying.

We cover the entire frame of the frame with paper.

Fifth stage: decor of the front side of the frame.

To seal the folds of toilet paper, thoroughly soak the entire surface with PVA glue (building, liquid).

Dry the day. After we cut off the excess edges of the paper, aligning the layers of paper and cardboard.

On the open lateral edges of the rails, apply a thick layer of PVA. It turns out a high-quality primer.

We paint the frame with gouache "silver".

We dry a couple of hours depending on the air temperature.

With the side part of a flat brush we apply gouache paint “gold” on the ribs of dried toilet paper. Sushim.

Sixth stage: paint the back of the frame and the groove for the picture.

On the back, we paint the frame and the groove for the picture "silver".

Seventh stage: varnishing.

We cover the frame on the front and back sides with several layers of varnish (carefully drying each layer)

Insert the picture into the groove. If the fit was done correctly, then the picture fits tightly and does not require additional fastening. In case of displacement, the picture can be fixed by driving several studs along the oblique into the frame from the wrong side so that the hat abuts against the back wall of the picture.

All! We hang the masterpiece on the wall and enjoy the admiring glances of the guests.
