In order not to store files in one “bundle” with other tools in a drawer, you can make a very practical and simple hinged stand for them from ordinary PVC pipes. You can make it from improvised materials in just half an hour, while the files you need will always be at hand, which is very convenient.

Manufacturing process

First of all, it is necessary to cut blanks from PVC pipes of suitable length and diameter. At about 1 cm from the edge, two holes (large and small diameters) need to be drilled in pipe sections. A large hole is needed in order to attach the tube to a wooden block using a self-tapping screw.
After that, the required number of tubes just need to be fixed in an upright position on a wooden block, which is then attached to the wall or rack in the workshop. Please note that triangular and round files are easily placed in PVC pipes of standard diameter.

Whereas for wide files that have a rectangular shape, it is necessary to use slightly flattened “sheaths”. Make them very simple. You need to take a piece of PVC pipe, heat it with a building hair dryer and press down with your palm.

To summarize

With such a practical hinged stand, it is much more convenient to store files, and most importantly - the tool will always remain clean. For a detailed process of making a stand from PVC pipes, see the video on our website.
