A curved blade with a wide sharpening on the inside, which has an unusual handle with a large hole for the index finger, is very practical to use. Thanks to the ring, the karambit is easy to get out of your pocket and it is convenient to hold the blade down in your hand. It is not surprising that today many are trying to copy the shape of a knife in order to make their own “sample” at home.

To make a homemade pocket knife, you need a piece of a rectangular shape plate (it is advisable to use a workpiece made of carbon tool steel) with a thickness of about 3-5 mm. The sizes of kerambit can be any - at your discretion. From the main power tool you will need a grinder, a drill and a belt grinder.

Making a kerambit knife: the process of work

Transfer the knife template (or draw the contours by hand) on a steel plate. Then with the help of angle grinders we cut the workpiece. You need to try to “shred” the metal as close as possible to the outer lines of the contour of the kerambit knife - then you will have to bother with the file less. At the next stage, we process the workpiece on a belt grinder.

The inner bends of the kerambit knife are most conveniently treated with a grinding nozzle for a network drill or a drill. It should be noted that power tools greatly facilitate the processing of metal. Then we drill a hole in the handle. The inner sides of the ring are treated with a round file and sandpaper.

Next, we make bevels on the blade of the blade. For this, it is best to use a belt sander. At the last stage of the work, we carefully grind the pocket kerambit knife using fine-grained sandpaper and polishing paste. If desired, you can make a knife case made of leather or other materials.
