For this original do-it-yourself craft, you will need a manual gearbox of the car, but not the whole, but only some details from it. In particular, for the manufacture of cleaver axes, in addition to a round steel pipe with a diameter of 32 mm, large and small gears extracted from a disassembled gearbox will also be used.

Preparation for work

And first of all, it is necessary to determine the location of the main elements on the ax - for this we lay out all the details at hand on the table and just turn on the imagination. Next, cut off the excess parts from the pipe and draw a template for the cleaver blade so that it matches the size of the handle and looks harmonious.

The rest of the "components" for the manufacture of this homemade product are looking for in the corners of the garage or workshop - we grab everything that is bad. To frame the cleaver blades, steel pieces of metal 3-4 mm thick are suitable. Try on, mark and cut off all the excess grinder. The blade itself can be cut out of sheet metal with a thickness of 3 mm.

Assembly process

To make the hatchet’s ax look more original and a little unusual, you can make it from several parts - that is, in addition to the main pipe of 32 mm and gears, you can also cut bushings of different diameters, which then need to be welded to the handle, growing it to the required length.

Then we cut the blade, frame it with steel plates and fasten to the ax with the help of home-made fasteners. From the remaining trifles we make various decorative elements that will give the cleaver a special charm. For a detailed process of manufacturing and assembling an ax, see the video on the site.
