Using a wall splitter made from improvised materials, you can quickly and effortlessly split logs into small wood and wood chips, which are very convenient to melt a solid fuel boiler or stove in a private house, a stove in the country, as well as a fireplace or barbecue.

To make a home-made hinged splitter of firewood, which is mounted on a wall or other vertical surface, you will need: a section of a profile pipe of rectangular cross section with side dimensions 50x30 mm, a steel plate and a piece of a round pipe for the handle.

Such a wall splitter of firewood is much safer than an ordinary ax, and at the same time it will take much less effort to chop logs. To split a log, you must first insert it into a special emphasis, and then lower the cutting knife.

The main stages of work

First, cut a segment of the desired length from the profile pipe 50x30 mm, and then cut a triangular wedge from it (approximately in the middle). Next, we drill a through hole and with the help of a grinder we make a longitudinal slot.

At the next stage of work, we cut a piece of steel plate of suitable length, drill a hole in it, and use a grinder to sharpen the cutting edge. As a result, we get a knife for chopping logs into chips.

We insert a homemade knife into the profile pipe and fix it with a bolt with nuts (one nut is installed inside the profile). At the end of the cutting knife, it is necessary to weld the lever from a piece of a round pipe.

Then it remains only to weld two plates to the base of the profile pipe, in which it will be necessary to drill two holes for fastening to a wall or other vertical surface. The whole process of manufacturing a wall splitter of firewood, see the video on our website.
