Perhaps the easiest way to connect the ends of the sanding belt is to tighten them with a bolt and nut. Cheap and cheerful, as they say. But only with this method of connection there is one drawback - the bolt will constantly cling to the surface of the working table, and the emery tape will quickly tear.
However, there is another, more reliable, simple way to glue the sanding belt for the belt sander and grinder. On the Internet you can find many different ways to connect the ends of the sandpaper, but not all of them are equally convenient.
In this review, we will consider one of the alternative methods that many will definitely like. As a "link" to connect the sanding belt will use a piece of the same sandpaper, only on a thinner basis.
For this purpose, the simplest sandpaper with fine grains on a waterproof basis is perfect, it has good elasticity and tear resistance.
The process of gluing sanding belt for grinder
One of the advantages of this method of connecting sanding belts is that you do not need to cut off the sandpaper with an overlap. As a sample, we take a "native" tape for the grinder, cut it, then measure the length and cut off the sandpaper strips for gluing new tapes. We cut the edges at an angle.
Then we fix the strip of sanding belt on the board, for reliability, “fasten” it with a stapler, we clean the edges and glue a patch of fine sandpaper.
After that, we clamp the strip with clamps and leave the glue to dry (you can use polyurethane glue or PVA).
