Cutting vegetables into rings on an industrial scale, for example, when preserving homemade products, is a routine and complex process. It is much easier and faster to chop them mechanically using a homemade slicer. Although it will take at least a day to make it, but this craft will last for many years, allowing you to cut vegetables in buckets at a time.

The main materials:

  • front and rear sprockets from a bicycle;
  • stainless steel sheet;
  • bar or shaft;
  • 4 bearings for shaft diameter;
  • 2 nuts for shaft diameter;
  • profile pipe 20x20 mm;
  • stainless steel pipe d50-100 mm;
  • 3 blades for mounting knife.

Slicer manufacturing

To assemble the mechanism of the vegetable slicer, you will need bicycle or motorcycle sprockets.

They need to be washed and fixed on the overlays cut out of a stainless steel. Holes are drilled in the center of the pads to weld shafts into them for rotation.

A stainless steel hopper is used to make vegetables. One end is cut off at 90 degrees, and the second at 45 degrees.

To make a disk that cuts vegetables, a circle is cut out of stainless steel.

It needs to cut 3 windows through which vegetable rings will fall out.

Next, L-shaped plates are welded onto the windows. The section of a cut of vegetable rings depends on their thickness. The blades are pressed against the plates by the screws from the mounting knife.

A slicer body is welded from a square pipe. In shape, it resembles a children's stool. It should be made as compact as possible.

A large sprocket with a shaft is fixed to the machine frame through 2 eyes with pressed bearings.

A convenient handle is welded to it, like a manual meat grinder.

The small sprocket is mounted close to the large one, and is welded to the table through a tube with pressed bearings.
The working disk with blades is clamped in bolts into the free shaft of a small sprocket. To do this, you will need to cut a thread on it.

The vegetable feed hopper is welded to the crossbar of the table. It is necessary that he almost comes close to the disk with the blades, but at the same time they do not touch. The bunker will be impacted, so it should be strengthened with additional emphasis.

Throwing vegetables into a slicer, and rotating it like a meat grinder, you can quickly chop into rings. The machine is suitable for cutting onions, garlic, potatoes, carrots, etc. When the knives become dull, you just need to change the blades. If only stainless steel is used during assembly, then the slicer does not require complicated maintenance at all, except for washing.
