Crocheting toys for your beloved baby is a great activity for mum on maternity leave. There are many advantages: distraction from everyday, sometimes monotonous, worries, the ability to discover new creative talents in yourself, creating beautiful and, most importantly, safe things for your child.
Materials required for work:
So, to tie the rattle "Octopus", which can be put on the handle of a child or suspended, for example, in an arc over a crib, you will need:
• Very little free time;
• Small size hollow plastic ball inside;
• Rice, beads or several small beads;
• Crochet hook, needle for sewing and scissors;
• Multi-colored cotton threads "Iris". If not, you can take any other cotton thread for crocheting. Their color depends only on the mother’s imagination;
• A piece of tape - Velcro size about 1.5 to 1.5 cm.
How to tie a rattle
• First of all, you need to make a small hole in the ball and place 5-7 grains of rice or the same number of beads (small beads) in it;
• Then the ball is tied with threads as shown in the photograph. Crochet is done in single crochet patterns. The first row is made of 5 air loops that close in a circle. The ball is tied as follows: until the middle of the ball, the loops are gradually added, then they are reduced. The body of the octopus is ready;
• Next, 8 legs must be attached to the body of the octopus. In this example, they are made of multi-colored threads. The length of each leg is 8 cm.
You can connect them as shown in the photo. First of all, a tourniquet is knitted equal to the length of the leg, then on it in a spiral the wavy design of the leg is knitted (3 rows with a single crochet). In order for the design to become magnificent, the number of loops in the second and third row must be increased, knitting two from one loop. The legs can be knitted either separately, then sewing them with a sewing needle, and immediately attaching them to the body;
• The octopus is almost ready, now it needs to be issued. To do this, you need to knit (or make from buttons) the eyes and mouth;
• Now it remains to complete the bracelet, with which the toy can be put on the handle of the child. To do this, you need to tie a rectangle about 1.5 by 8 cm in size, on the edges of which sew an adhesive tape fastener, and in the middle of the tape attach an octopus.
A toy made with love, which will please the baby for a long time, is ready.
